Oceanico’s Victoria Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 72 championship layout, measuring 6,560 meters. Several man-made lakes provide hazards for the players and also serve as water reservoirs for irrigation.
The previous owners invested 18 million euros in Oceanico’s Victoria Golf Club, designed by Arnold Palmer, one of the greatest legends of the sport. This was the most ambitious golf project in Portugal, and was aimed at being one of the best golf complexes in the whole of Europe. The Victoria Clube de Golfe is the fifth course in Vilamoura and the most exclusive one at the resort, making it ideal to became the Algarve's and Portugal's major venue for top international tournaments. Palmer, whose design company has planned some 500 layouts worldwide, compiled the Victoria course project, and Southern Golf, Europe's largest golf course builder, was awarded the construction contract.
Laid out on virtually flat terrain covering some 90 hectares it includes a series of constructed mounds specially landscaped to emulate the outline of inland hills on the horizon - a feature that enriches the course with a sense of movement and harmony. The series of beautiful lakes and waterfalls also helps to provide an attractive background whilst playing the course.
This is at present the longest 18 holes golf course in Portugal and promises to be a notable course in Europe. Each hole has a minimum of five tees from which to play thus making the course suitable for golfers of all handicap levels. Before playing it could be advisable to take advantage of the immense putting green of around 2,500 m2 to "feel the green" in that very important end game.
Vilamoura's location being just 20 minutes from Faro, villas apartments for sale are an ideal algarve golf investment.
